Where do boogers come from?

Yep, I'm going to gross you all out by discussing boogers, more specifically Eligh's boogers.

When Eligh has a cold he shoots boogers out of his nose and runs to tell you he has "boogers."

Our response is always, "Go get a tissue!!!"

No matter if he has a cold or not, he also always has the biggest, crunchiest boogers that require me to retrieve them.  Yes, I pick my son's nose.  Lately, though, as I'm amazed at the size of these boogers I'm retrieving I have asked him where these boogers come from.

His response (well over the last three times) is, "Daddy puts them in there."  (Do not try to convince him otherwise or he gets c-r-a-n-k-y.)

So, you may want to investigate to see who has been putting boogers into your children's noses, because it may be enlightening.

Talking Tuesday #9 - Kinsley informs

"If I didn't have a mouth, I couldn't talk."

"I have a thumb.  Do you have a thumb?"

"Daddy loves mommy."

Recap on "Favors"

A few days ago I asked how you all felt about favors.  The few of you that responded feel the same way I do, even if someone offers to "help" you don't tend to take them up on their offer.

When someone says, "I'll watch the kids for you some time, just let me know"

  • Does that mean you should actually ask them?  I think you have to get to know someone well enough before trusting your kids with them.  So, if someone I just met or hung out with once or twice offers I laugh it off, knowing they mean well but I won't be asking them until I feel comfortable with them.
  • Does it matter how long you have known them?  YES!
  • Should it be within a matter of a day when the suggestion was made?  Definitely not!
My scenario:

Our closest neighbors (we actually share a wall) these houses here are goofy, but the space (well over 2000 square feet of just living space) works.  We have lived in our current "house" since late summer, so not very long.  We have just recently started hanging out with our closest neighbors, as in when we are out playing with the kiddos and they happen to be out with their kiddos.  Wednesday it was a nice day out, and we were all outside for hours playing.  I gave the mom my phone number in case she needed anything.  I offered as a some day suggestion that I would keep their kiddos (11 month old and three year old) one night so they could go out for dinner one night.  Thursday afternoon I get a text asking if I would watch their kids Saturday night.  I was shocked.  I didn't mind at all, just wasn't expecting it so soon.  We were all set to keep them Saturday night, and then out of the blue Kinsley started throwing up all night Friday into early Saturday morning.

The point is....be careful when you make suggestions because people may just take you up on them.

I really meant that I would keep her kids, but I figured we would all hang out a few more times and let them feel more comfortable.  I know that if she offered to keep the kiddos, I wouldn't ask.  I'm just not there yet.  I do have a friend here who will keep the kids for me when I need something but we are friends and talk nearly every single day.  We have reached that comfort level.

House cleaning

  • Who cleans your house?
  • How often?
  • Do you have a schedule?

Who cleans my house?
I do the majority of the major cleaning as I'm home.  I dust, vacuum, scrub bathrooms, clean floors, laundry, etc.  If I put it off for a weekend or day when hubby is home he will help as long as I give him a list of things I want him to do.  He isn't one to just get up and scrub the bathrooms because they need it, but if I ask him to he will.

How often?
I do the major cleaning once a week:  bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming.

Do I have a schedule?
I just make sure it gets done sometime in the week.  But, it is always done in the morning, because afternoons tend to be for activities with the kiddos.

Friday Night Leftovers

  • I made my own free of dyes and perfumes laundry soap.  Love it.
  • I went to the dentist twice this week.  Once for a cleaning the other to fix the sensitive tooth that started oh six months ago after my very first filling.  Now I have to wait two weeks to see if it is fixed.
  • The dental workers need to quit harassing me about my wisdom teeth.  1.  It is going to cost quite a bit for me to get them removed, 2. I don't want to have any type of surgery or be in pain, and 3. They don't even bother me
  • My new workout shoes are working out perfectly, and I haven't had to put my insoles in.
  • Kiddos and I went for a play date the other day and they had a blast.  They had a trampoline, tree house, swing set, out door toys, indoor trampoline, etc, etc.  They ask to go back every day.
  • Out of no where, Kinsley has vomited three times since we first put her to bed this evening.
  • My Friday night is going to be so much fun!
Stop by our host, Danifred, because I said so.

Favors

I have some random questions about favors, not the decoration kind.

When someone says, "I'll watch the kids for you some time, just let me know"
  • Does that mean you should actually ask them?
  • Does it matter how long you have known them?
  • Should it be within a matter of a day when the suggestion was made?
I just have to know how others feel about this, and then I'll share my scenario.

Talking Tuesday #8 - Guns

While in the store, Eligh spots an elder man walking with a cane...

Eligh:  "THAT GUY HAS A GUN!!!!  I WANT A GUN!!!!"

Daddy:  "Eligh, that is not a gun, it's a cane.  Don't be so loud."

Eligh (shouting even louder than before):  "HEY MAN!  WHY DO YOU HAVE A GUN?!"

This could have gone sooo horribly wrong if important ears would have overheard.

What to do?

Yesterday we spent the day out browsing, shopping, and simply enjoying a day out.

The evening, though, ended with us boxing up our dinners.  Addy seemed to have been hit with an intense migraine.  Screaming, crying, etc.  When we finally made it home, the screaming and crying in pain started again and so did a quick vomit.  These are all the same symptoms I have, and this is not her first migraine.  I don't know what to do about all of this.

Friday Night Leftovers - Must find space

  • We started the week off with two snow days.
  • This allowed Addy two days to celebrate Valentine's Day - the original date at home and then her party at school.  The day after the party she asked, "Can I get more sweets tomorrow?"
  • She took her school pictures this week as well, and I'm interested to see how they turned out.
  • This current course is making me want to cry and wave the white flag.  Doesn't help that my group SUCKS (as in zero help or input = my OCD self completing well over my share of work).
  • Paws has been hiding in his kennel or won't come out right away when his door opened.
  • This week ended with sweatshirt weather and another day off of school for Addy.
  • Three long week days of all three kiddos home and I need some space, but more importantly time to be alone and do absolutely nothing.  Simply worn out.
  •  Today, I took all three kiddos (hubby was working) to an indoor pool/toddler play area.  Super cheap and loads of fun.  I simply needed to get out of the house and so did they.
  • I will be purchasing new work out shoes, so if anyone has some recs I would greatly appreciate it.  I need a cross training type shoe, as I do crossfit work outs, some running, and even Zumba.  I also need a sturdy base to the shoe, because of my feet problems.  That's all.
As always, stop by our lovely host, Danifred, and leave some love, good health, and sleep.

Stickers

I despise stickers.  Yep, despise.  They are evil with their stickiness.  Evil, I say.

But, my children love them.  What do they even do with them?  Stick them on a piece of paper and hang them on the fridge, because duh, it's art, mom.

Just this week Addyson has now claimed herself to be the reward queen.  If you are good, she will give you a sticker.  If you are bad, she will tell you why and explain that you cannot have a sticker at the time, but maybe, just maybe if you start acting nice you can get one later.

Wordless Wednesday - Snow

We finally had one really good snow this year and we played in the morning and the afternoon for hours, trying to enjoy it's short lived presence.

And, if someone finds a photo editing site where you can create collages that isn't closing, send me a link, please.

Valentine's Day - snow day

The hubby and I have not celebrated Valentine's Day or some of the other cheesy Hallmark holidays since before we married, and it will not change.

We do, though, do a little something for the kids.  This year it was all about some new tubs of Play Doh.  And, since we are on day two of a snow day (which was called last night and was not necessary as the snow is melted and we are now left with mud), we started our morning off with some Play Doh

I am excited for Addy to experience her very first school Valentine's Day party, even if it is a day late.  She will be bringing in her premade box (she added her name and stickers), cards to share (she addressed them all), heart shaped cupcakes she decorated, and heart shaped crayons for each of her classmates.

Cawfee Tawk

Questions and Answers:
  1. What was your first concert?  B96 Bash which was a bunch of popular pop stars at the time.  Remember the "Thong Song?"
  2. Do you know if Instagram has a way that I can actually purchase the pictures?  No, but I just upload to Shutterfly after I take a pic with Instagram.  I'm sure they will eventually come up with something, or I hope they do.
  3. What part of your body is always cold in the Winter?  Feet.  I'm always wearing a blanket when I'm sitting and then I go back and forth with my fuzzy Crocs.
  4. What are you doing today?  I scrubbed the fridge and all three bathrooms already this morning.  I'm hoping to persuade the hubby to hang up the collage I had made of the twins and making heart shaped cupcakes this evening.
  5. Any plans for V-day?  No - I am not into the holiday as far as celebrating with the hubby, but I will have the kiddos wear red or heart shaped clothing.  I'm debating picking up a little thing for each of them, especially since my mom is giving them something small.  I just don't want to look bad.
  6. Who is the next celebrity that will take a nosedive because of drugsToo many to name
  7. Do you work out on the weekends?  If we don't have plans I do at least once.  I like to go in the mornings, but during the week I have to go in the evenings, so I enjoy my early morning escape.
Want to play along?  Stop by Rebecca, plus she always has something funny to read.

Cute baby Saturday - daddy's ummm...hair?

Daddy was cutting Eligh's hair this evening and the following conversation occurred:

Daddy: "Eligh, please don't move."

Eligh: "Or I'm going to have hair like you?"

Daddy: "No, Eligh. I'm not going to make you bald."

Eligh: "Please, don't make me have hair like you, daddy. I want it not too short. Ok?"

Friday Night Leftovers - prepare for the worst

  • Did I mention that the girls and I went to see Princesses on Ice last weekend?  AAAAhhhhmazing.  Now we need to find something neutral so the Chief can enjoy a show.
  • Kinsley has asked every single day if we can go see the Princess show again.
  • Our house was healthy the previous week, and Sunday night Eligh started a fever that lasted four days.  I simply don't understand.
  • Paws was a very bad doggy this week.  He peed in the house, and of course had to do it right next to Addy's back pack right before we were to head out the door.
  • The girls took their official dance pictures last night.  I was against buying any, but when I asked if they could just take a picture together instead of individuals and was told yes, I was sold.
  • I'm about to lose it in my most recent course.  I am working with flippin idiots and I'm tired of pulling it all together.
  • Tonight we went to see the newest Chipmunk movie (free) and my kiddos did not get up once.  This is the best all three of them have done at the movies so far.
  • Addy addressed her very first Valentine's, and I'm so proud of her for being able to write them all.  I asked her on more than occasion if she wanted to take break when I knew she was getting frustrated with her own perfectionism, but she refused to give up.
  • The bottom may soon be falling out, so be prepared.
Go stop by Danifred, our host, and send her some extra sleep if you can.

You don't understand me

Addy's newest dilemna and response when I am trying to put two and two together of what she is explaining:

Addy (face falls, tears well up) and she whines:  "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ME!"

But, I'm trying and do tend to solve her little puzzle, but just not fast enough.  This little perfectionist is only going to get worse.  Sigh.

Talking Tuesday #7

Eligh on a play phone:  "We have a condition and it is fractured?"

Where the hell did he pick up these words?  Definitely not me.

A little ache

Addy is very much like me, emotional. She is sensitive to words spoken to her and takes many things very serious.

When we had to say goodbye to her two favorite older girl cousins she was in full meltdown mode crying hysterically how much she will miss them. All this did was make me feel horrible for this transient life we have to live; one where visits are never frequent or long enough.

Boy sleepover?!

Addy after school: "Hey, mom! K (boy from class) said I could spend the night at his house and he made me a picture."

Nope, not happening ever.

Close, yet so far away

As nice as it is to be closer to family, six hours in a vehicle still feels like forever.  Doesn't help that we were asked 38 times:  "How much longer?  Does it take a long time?"

Snowflakes

We have had a very uneventful winter, and my children are very sad that they did not get to enjoy snow this year.

When you don't have snow, make it.
