Totally random question

As some of you remember, I had my first dental work experience not too long ago.

Well.....ever since having the two partial fillings completed, the one on my right side will send shocks through it with certain items.  I was told this could happen.  This weekend, though, it has gotten worse.  I took a drink of water Saturday morning and you would have thought I was having a stroke on the right side of my body.

Until I can call the dentist and get in, I have started using straws to drink to prevent liquid of any temperature touching this tooth as well as chewing on the left side only.  I asked Cody if he chewed on both sides when eating and he informed me that he has always used one side only.  Say what?!

Do you only use one side of your mouth when chewing?  Are you like me who rotates turns chewing on either side of your mouth?  Seriously, next time you are eating pay attention and share.

Confidence boost

Kinsley:  "Mommy, you're hot."
Mommy:  "Huh?"
Kinsley:  "You have a hot booty."
Mommy:  Mouth hanging open

*P.S. Round three of the flu has hit.  Newest victim:  Addy

Friday Night Leftovers - Thirteen

  • Thirteen long years ago, Cody and I officially started dating.  I was a month shy of 16 and he 17.  It happened after a three hour long conversation about who the hell knows what.
  • Hubby was sick with the crud I had earlier this week.
  • I had to take Eligh to basketball vs. daddy.  Three to five year old tots attempting to dribble is hysterical.  One of the drills involved the tots dribbling the ball up and down the court.  Eligh cannot dribble nor could many.  I don't understand the logic of the drills, but we tried.
  • Kinsley thinks every day is dance class day and she gets very upset when I have to tell her no.
  • Addy and I took Paws in to be groomed and he looked like a completely different dog.  Addy didn't believe it was Paws for a good 15 minutes.
  • We have new neighbors in our little culdesac, yet we are still the only ones who are ever outside with our kiddos.  And, we are the only ones who have Halloween decorations up. They are lame if you ask me.
  • We have watched the Lion King about 13 times this week.
  • Weekend plans involve playing catch up on house work, laundry, and a couple assignments.  Exciting, huh?

Make it work - no, not a Tim Gunn post

I've been collecting my thoughts about a couple recent conversations I have had with some other moms concerning the issue of working vs. staying home.  Since I have been on both sides of the fence, I don't really have a strong opinion nor do I feel one is better than the other.

The one comment that routinely pops up when I explain I'm a stay at home mom is, "Oh, I wish I could stay home, but I HAVE to work."

Our decision for me to stay home was not something we just sporadically decided.  It was a HUGE decision and took lots of analyzing and weighing the pros and cons to come to the final decision.  I have been at home now for a year and 9 months, but who is counting?  Our income dropped tremendously, and to many would be laughable (seriously).  To put it into perspective we technically could qualify for WIC.  With that said, we make it work.  We I budget and plan.  Our kids are still spoiled rotten and do not go without.  Yes, I could go back to work, take Addy out of her free pre-k program, put all three in daycare, pay out the arse, and bring home some extra money.  Money that we don't necessarily NEED, but simply WANT.

What I have learned most about these current topics of conversations is simple:  What works for one, doesn't work for another.  At the end of the day, we are all just trying to make our lives work.

Eligh's message

I finally allowed myself to go upstairs to give the kiddos hugs only at bed time (I wouldn't even go near them for the past two days), "Mommy, please don't get me sick."

Please let this horrible sickness that consumed me officially leave me and the rest of the family alone.

Seriously, I have too much to do.

Excuse my absence

I had a lovely, fantastical weekend.  Hubby let me stay in bed for as long as I pleased, waited on me, took care of the kids, and the cleaning.

Yeah right!  I spent the weekend curled up and dying.  I vomited for 14 hours straight, slept like shit, could barely walk from lack of strength. I hope to be back to regular strength tomorrow, though.
