Talking Tuesday - pigs

Mommy: "Good morning, bud. Did you sleep good?"

Eligh: "No! The pigs woke me up with their snoring."

Stubborn

For most of this weekend since my procedure I have taken it easy allowing myself to get away with the normal duties of mommy hood. I even enjoyed a nap and sleeping in - two luxuries that just do NOT happen for me.

Today, though, I decided it was time to commit to all mommy duties. I woke up with the family, played outside all morning, did a few loads of laundry, went to the grocery store, played outside all afternoon, and even far the kiddos each a bath. It was all too much and I am paying for it. Bruising has increased and my leg simply hurts.

I am stubborn and simply do NOT like to be catered to for long. A bad quality to have, indeed.

And, it is time

.....I'm having to have a vein removed.  It is not for cosmetic reasons, nor can you even see anything but bruises.  It has been causing pain for quite some time and after a long extensive u/s and consultation, I have a vein that is refluxing.  Blood is not flowing back up, and instead just stays stuck in my leg.  Removing the vein is the only way to stop this from occurring and progressing to possible blood clots.

It is tomorrow and as much as I was completely up for this as it will hopefully cause relief, I am starting to freak as it is less than 24 hours away.

Being awake during this procedure and the thought of someone messing with my veins is yes, indeed, causing some uneasy feelings.  I know it is a common procedure and is nothing to be stressing about, but I am.  And, so be it.

Update tomorrow or the next day with the nitty gritty.

Talking Tuesday - The ants go marching

Mommy:  "Where are all these boogers coming from?"
Eligh:  "The ants."
Mommy:  "The ants?!"
Eligh:  "Yeah!  The ants march into my room and throw boogers into my nose.  That's how."

Awesomeness

I just have to brag on the hubby, because I typically do not, and he deserves it.

In the past few days the following awesomeness (his word) has occurred:

  • Hubby took all three kiddos fishing all by himself so I could get ready for a yard sale.
  • When I was stressing, he was utterly calm and made a plan
  • Let me go to the movies without a second thought
  • Took two of three kiddos fishing a second day
  • Let me go to a cooking party this evening with zero complaints
I don't say it enough, but Cody is truly an amazing father, supportive husband, and I could NOT imagine my life without his "awesomeness."

Sunday is for....

Relaxing, but not in this house. These rugrats of mine just cannot let there be a day of relaxation.

Instead, we split the house. Daddy took Addy and Eligh fishing and I took Kinsley shopping.

We met back up at home for lunch and naps. Cody and I couldn't relax either, as we decided to tackle my newest project. We painted for two hours.

I then attempted out a new, takes way too many steps, recipe for dinner.

We finally decided with thirty mins left until bedtime to allow our energizer bunnies to watch some tv, just so daddy and I could rest our feet.

Finish this sentence: Sunday is for....

Friday Night Leftovers - when plans go out the window

  • I made a lot of blog promises or plans in my head, but none of them actually happened.
  • Cody had quite a bit of days off or half days this week, so we took advantage of the extra time.
  • We went to a children's museum, Bass Pro (my kids' favorite store) and we easily spent two hours there, and worked on the twins' bday gifts one day.
  • Went to the pool for a few hours another day.
  • Daddy and Addy went fishing most of another day where Addy finally caught her first, sorry - six, fish for the first time this summer.  She was over the moon with excitement.
  • Paws got a mohawk
  • I drove twenty minutes to an appointment to see that they were closed for the afternoon.  I wrote down the time and date in three locations and each of them have the same time and date.  I was more than slightly annoyed and may have chewed someone out.
  • Guess what, I just have three more days of school and I'm FINISHED!!!  Who is going to come and celebrate with me?  I WILL be having at least one drink.

Talking Tuesday - wag

Addy: "Mommy, I want Merida wag to wear on my head. It's orange, ok?"

Eligh: "I'm tired on lemonade it makes me too adorable."

"Ever again?"

For the love of ice cream!!!! These kids and this phrase are about to cause me to run far, far away.

"You can't play in my room ever again!"
"For ever?!"
"Mom, so and so said I can't xyz ever again!"

"You can't sleep with me ever again!"
"For ever?"
"Mom....(repeat)."

"You can't play with my (pick a toy) ever again!"
"For ever?"
"Mom....(repeat)."

Repeat, repeat, REPEAT!!!!

I'm over it. Done. Find something new, ok?

Week and weekend leftovers with a couple questions

  • Addy had her last t-ball game of the season this week.  It was actually a make up game not from rain but from excessive heat.  A few teams closed the season the week before due to the heat.
  • I went to sign up Eligh for team soccer vs. instructional soccer and Addy up for cheer leading.  After the soccer coach brought out a ball and started kicking it around with them Addy changed her mind.  I will have Eligh and Addy both playing soccer starting next month.
  • Kinsley has zero interest in soccer, she is the fastest of the three but gets tired and winded easily due to her asthma.  She is sticking with dance for now.
  • Both girls will be in dance again this year, I believe they will start in September.
  • I got the cd full of family pictures that I will be sharing this week.  So many great ones.
  • I have really enjoyed riding my bike this week.  If I go by myself I can get it done super fast and not have to interrupt bedtime routine.  But, if a friend goes with it takes FOREVER!  I have to stop every  1/4 mile or less so she can take a break.  Really?!
  • I took the kids to a water park one day and the public pool another day this week.  Another mom and I went with our six kids.  I can do it on my own, but it's much easier when Cody can tag along.  Eligh and Addy like to go down the slide and diving board at the pool, while Kinsley does not.
  • Have I told you all about my Amish bread?  Do you know what it is?
  • Made some salsa for the first time today with the tomatoes from my garden.  If you make salsa, what do you put in yours?
  • If you get bored or need something to do, want to vote for the twinks?

Fun Activity Day

I let the kids pick out a new craft a couple of weeks ago to help on days where it is either raining or just too stinkin hot to go outside.

They have asked every single day, "Can we do our fun activities yet?"  And, I kept putting it off trying to plan a day where we had nothing planned or needed a break from all the swimming and heat.

It happened this week.  The girls woke up from naps at the same time, and I let them paint.  By the time they finished painting Eligh was up and ready for his turn.  Being a smart mommy, I only let them choose one animal from each of the boxes.

They had a blast and could not wait to hang their sun catchers in their room and their magnets on the fridge.

Puppy swimming game

The imagination and creative play with these kids has exploded and I can't help but listen, gather information, and ask questions.

Nearly every day Eligh asks the girls if they want to play the puppy swimming game.

I finally had to ask him and Addyson what this game is all about.

After several questions I have gathered the following:  Eligh is a puppy, more specifically Paws.  He is to pretend he is swimming, but only in his dress up clothes (Lightning McQueen outfit to be precise), as his dress up outfit is his swimsuit.

I then asked the two of them if Paws (the real dog) should go swimming in a dress up outfit.  At first they all said no, and then begged that we buy Paws an outfit so he can go swimming.

So, when your kids are bored and need an activity, have them play the puppy swimming game.  (Not that it really makes any sense)

Beer - age three

Mommy:  "Eligh, do you like your juice?" (It was a new juice flavor)
Eligh;  "Yep, this beer is good."
Mommy:  "Eligh, it's juice, not beer."

Later in the day....
Eligh:  (pretending he was a customer at a restaurant) "Addyson, can you get me a beer, please?"
Addy:  "Yep....coming right up."
Mommy:  "Enough, with the beer!!!!"
Eligh:  "Yes, mommy."

This evening they were pretending to drink while watching a movie.  Can't have cups in the living room, so they brought in play kitchen cups and were sipping on them.
Mommy:  "Eligh, what are you drinking in your cup?"
Eligh:  "Beer....it's delicious!"

I'm screwed...........................

***I would like to add.  Cody drinks beer on the weekends every once in a while, so I have no idea where his obsession with beer has come from.

Closing a busy weekend with....

Overly tired, worn out, whiny children who fell asleep ten minutes after their heads hit the pillow.

How are you closing out your weekend?

Friday Night Leftovers - rain dance

  • This week I babysat my neighbor's 11 year old daughter for part of the day.  I didn't realize that I still had to some what entertain an 11 year old.  On a side, she thought our house was huge (it's the exact same layout as her house, but well, mine is organized).
  • Cody had off Wednesday and today, but worked the days in between and tomorrow as well.  I enjoy a mid week day off, but a couple days off in a row for him would be more enjoyable.
  • He did manage to wash both vehicles.
  • I took the old bike for a ride and it was awesome, totally reminded me of my carefree youth.  So, today I rode my bike with the kiddos riding along as well and daddy walked and helped out the stragglers.
  • To help combat the days we take a break from the water I picked up some more crafty activities and they haven't stopped asking to do them.  Which would be fine and dandy if they didn't have me going balls to the walls from sunup to sundown.  I'm hoping for a rainy day soon.  Might have to learn a rain dance to speed up the process.
  • T-ball season has been hit or miss as the practices have been cancelled for two weeks due to heat, tomorrow she has a game and then a make up game next week and we are done for the season.
Stop by our host, Danifred, an offer up some ice or rain as she too is dealing with insanely hot temperatures.

Recap on the 4th - the antisocial year

This year we decided that we wanted to skip having or joining others in a picnic and just do what we as our own little family of five wanted to do and it couldn't have been any more perfect.

I woke up with a horrible migraine and severe nausea (I got up, went back to bed, and didn't come downstairs until 10 am - this has NEVER happened).  While I was dying, Cody took the kids to get doughnuts - they were ecstatic.

After lunch, we headed to the pool.  Our neighbors and one other family joined too.  To our surprise it was completely free yesterday - SCORE!  Our neighbors and friends left after the first hour.  We, stayed until they shut it down for the day - three hours.  Kids had a blast.

We bathed the kiddos, split up and conquered some quick grocery shopping.

Cody cooked steaks on the grill and I boiled some corn on the cob.

We headed to our friends house to enjoy a drink and let the kids play for about an hour and left to find a good spot for the fireworks show.

This was our first year as family going to see fireworks.  We typically put our kiddos to bed during the  fireworks, plus they do NOT like loud noises.  We were nervous.

We ended up parking a good ways away, found a PT platform (what drill sergeants stand on when yelling at the privates), put some blankets down and watched the sun set.  Cody and Kinsley went to the fair and brought back some popcorn and cotton candy.

Everyone did great with the fireworks.  Addy was the only one that covered her ears in the beginning, but we were able to get her to relax and enjoy the show.  If we would have sat closer to the action I am sure it would have been a different story.  It took us three minutes to get home and all three had fallen asleep.  They were beyond beat and actually slept in.  The twins wok up at 7:30 and Addy an hour later at 8:30.

This may be the best fourth of July we have had yet.

Talking Tuesday - Flies Fart

Eligh:  "Flies can fart dragon flies and waspez."

Kinsley:  "Mommy, I didn't poop in my panties, it's just my Oreo."

Addyson:  (climbing into mommy's lap) "Mom, you have too many freckles on your leg, they hurt me." (Guess I needed to shave.)
