Skipping the sappy Mother's Day post

I'm exhausted.  This weekend has simply been exhausting on all fronts.

  • Mom came to visit
  • Addy's last day of PreK
  • Cody's vasectomy
  • Girls' dance recital
  • Mother's Day
I do not have an ounce left to think and formulate some mooshy, well-deserved I love my kids post, nor a sappy it was hard to get here, and ohmygod our baby making doors are officially closed, just too much all at once.  Instead, some pictures of Addy's last day of PreK

Cute baby Saturday - recital throw down

The girls had their recital this afternoon and it was super cute.  This was Addy's third recital and Kinsley's first.  I was a little nervous to see how Kinsley would react once she was on stage as she is very nervous around people she does not know.  But, she did great for a little 3.5 year old and only spun once out of control onto her booty.

Friday Night Leftovers - many firsts

  • It's been a week of many firsts
  • I started physical therapy for my back this week and will have to go for the next three weeks as well.
  • First thoughts, the pain feels the same or worse especially after therapy.
  • Secondly, I'm annoyed that one therapist did my shocking treatment with my shirt on, the next day the therapist wants my shirt off.  It's a damn conspiracy.
  • Addy started "real" t-ball this week.  She will have games and everything.  I was so against buying any gear, but I changed my mind.  I scored free cleats, but bought pink laces to help make them girly for her (she was complaining they were too boyish).  I picked up a much lighter bat so she can actually hold it, a practice tee, and some balls.  I figure all three of them will get to play at home this way.
  • Addy "graduated" prek yesterday and today is her last class.  Yes, I cried.  So what?!
  • This afternoon our child making days are officially over.  Cody goes in for his procedure.  More to come at a later date on this topic.
  • Tomorrow the girls have their spring recital, which will be Kinsley's very first recital.  She is extremely excited to get up on the stage.  We'll see how it actually goes.
  • My mom got in late last night and we'll be here for the weekend.  I get to give her our mother's day gift, which is pretty awesome if you ask me.
  • Anyone else have a crazy week?
As always stop by our host, Danifred, and leave some love.

Talking Tuesday - good deal

Mommy:  "What are you doing?"
Eligh:  "I'm scrubbing my butt."
Mommy:  "Why?"
Eligh:  "Because I fell down."

Addy:  "I didn't catch any fish."
Kinsley:  "Well, I did.  I caught two, and that's a good deal."

Differences

Do you ever feel like you are different?  Seriously, people are so different from me and our family.  Soooo different.  Our interests, parenting style, values, etc are so very, very different.  Why can't there be people like us that aren't miles and miles and MILES away?  I'm seriously thinking we are the odd ones and that everyone else is normal.

Examples:
  • We do not have to do everything together.  Whether it be the grocery store, doctor appointments, etc.  Why do so many feel they can't spend a minute apart, especially when lugging children along?  What's wrong with a little space?
  • Whining in this house does NOT equal a toy, a special dessert, etc.  You have to earn some things in this house.
  • Electronics and children - are not a must in this house.  Our kids do not have to have an electronic device with them every where they go, especially when enjoying the outdoors.  What happened to simply experiencing nature and simply getting outside to enjoy the weather?
The differences make it hard at times and there are times I just need a breather.

Warmer weather

We have had some pretty warm days lately, like 90 degrees warm.  Ridiculous.  These kids love to be outside, so I needed a quick solution.  I found a little blow up pool that when sitting will come up to their chest (so essentially like a bath), but an adult could fit in there as well.  Any ways, it was cheap and easy.  I picked this up yesterday and they used it for hours yesterday and today.  And now I'm back to the summer pool park passes and still haven't made a decision.  I know, I suck at making decisions.

Warmer weather means I am outside more and for longer and have ZERO motivation to do anything after we have spent hours outside.  I'm still cooking, but I change what I'm cooking because I don't want to spend time cooking it or have to rush in to cook.  Not everything is a quick dinner.

And, the number one area that I lose motivation in is school.  I'm in my third week of my second to last class, which means I have only nine weeks left.  I should have planned this better, so I could have the entire summer to enjoy the end of school, but instead I'll be stuck digging deep to find the last bit of motivation to complete these last two classes.

Warm weather I enjoy you oh so much, but these other tasks do not.

How has the weather been by you?

Talking Tuesday - turkey hunting

Eligh refusing to eat and making grunting noises.
Mommy:  "Eligh, you need to eat.  Quit with the noises, please."
Eligh:  "I'm trying to get the worms out of my belly."

Addy:  "Kinsley, punch daddy in the sac when he gets home."

Addy:  "When I get big, I want to be a doctor."
Eligh:  "When I get  really big, I want to go turkey hunting."
